The 2008 ISE Language Matters Award

Now is the time to nominate an amazing teacher who is
deserving of recognition for all they have contributed and
dedicated to the study of world languages and cultural
understanding. Intercultural Student Experiences (ISE)
is a non-profit educational organization founded more
than 30 years ago by foreign language teachers for the
purpose of creating authentic beyond-the-classroom
experiences for American foreign language students and
teachers. ISE is pleased to make available to CCFLT a
special recognition award for its membership. There is no
restriction on what the funds must be used for, nor does
the winner need to be a participant in ISE programs to be
eligible.
Award: The ISE Language Matters Award shall consist
of a framed award certifi cate and a $500 grant.
Eligibility: The applicant selected for this award shall be
a high school world language teacher who has achieved
outstanding success in getting his or her students to
speak the target language through exemplary motivation
and creative methods. In addition, the winner shall
be a teacher who has provided authentic immersion
experiences outside the classroom for students to apply
their speaking skills. No prior association or experience
with ISE is required of the nominee. However, teachers
must be current members of CCFLT to be considered.
Nomination packet must include:
1. A cover sheet with the name of the nominee, school, address, phone number, email address, and language(s)
taught.
2. A one-page letter of nomination highlighting the
teacher’s contributions in the above-mentioned areas.
3. A one-page letter of support for the nomination from
the teacher’s administrator.

All submissions must be received by November 15, 2007 to be considered by the selection committee. Awards
will be presented by an ISE representative at the CCFLT
Spring Conference Awards Luncheon on Thursday,
February 14, 2008.
