CCFLT Webmaster

The first CCFLT Webmaster was Kathleen Cook, who began these pages in addition to serving as the Newsletter Editor.

The next Webmaster, Lawrence Glatz, assumed the role in May, 2000, with the decision of the President, Executive Secretary and Board Members to move the material to the new URL. He served until May, 2005.


The Webmaster of the CCFLT website must:

1. Maintain and enhance the CCFLT web site (http://www.ccflt.org) with text, graphics, and forms.

2. Post in a timely manner information of interest to members, including conference announcements and details, activities, nomination and election information, Award information, job announcements, board meeting minutes, and newsletter pdf copies.

3. Coordinate with the president, section chairs, newsletter editor, and the secretary-treasurer to develop and identify information of interest to the members on the website.

4. Solicit and acquire additional information from the members and the foreign language education community for the website.

5. Type, scan, or import and edit text for the website.

6. Write articles of interest to the membership, as appropriate.

7. Identify and maintain links to other sources of language education education information available on the Internet

8. Research web development to identify, evaluate, and implement Internet technologies on the web site

9. Coordinate with the web site hosting company (http://www.hostsave.com) to maintain high availability, sufficient disk space, and necessary technologies for the web site.

10. Renew the domain name registration (http://www.ccflt.org) with the Network Solutions agency before expiration date.

11. Attend the meetings of the CCFLT Board and Website Committee.

 

Webmaster qualifications:

 

1. Access to Macintosh, IBM compatible, or UNIX computer with appropriate text, WYSIWYG, and graphics software for developing and updating web content.

2. Knowledge of WYSIWYG or html web page editors, and FTP software. Willingness to develop expertise in additional Internet technologies such as CGI and JavaScript.

3. Access to email.

4. Good writing, editing, and graphics skills.

5. Excellent communications skills.

Note: The position of CCFLT Webmaster is an appointment to the CCFLT Board. The position does not have voting privileges on the Board.
