We often use reading as a means to teach vocabulary, but what if we want more? The focus of this session will be to get a little deeper than simple understanding of text. There will be examples of how to get students to discuss what they are reading with one another and how to focus on clues many authors give when they want to let the reader know something important is about to happen. We will also discuss how to form reading groups and set up norms for students to engage with one another.
