This session provides an overview of the Language Friendly School Initiative. Proposed by experts in the field of mother tongue and multilingual education, this initiative aims to significantly eradicate the global practice of punishing children for speaking their mother tongue in an educational setting. The Language Friendly School initiative requires a broad base of partners and supporters, and this session is intended to spread the voice in Colorado to join efforts with the Rutu Foundation for Intercultural Multilingual Education, a non-profit organization based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, which is the inspiration of this initiative.
