Student Ownership Through Understanding Proficiency and Goal Setting

PresenterCristin Bleess

Saturday 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Conference Room II

Students often don’t have personal language goals for themselves and that needs to change. Having goals will help students take ownership of their learning, which promotes motivation and encourages a growth mindset. This session will first explain what ownership of learning is, then how to help students understand what proficiency in the target language means and to set goals for their language learning that matter to them in order to promote student ownership of learning. Resources on talking about proficiency and goal setting to students will be provided.
